5 Essential Pipe Relining Materials and Tools

pipe-relining-material-2Modern pipe repair techniques take advantage of practical and stellar equipment. Pipe relining is one of the restoration methods that make use of such gear. Here is the list of essential pipe relining materials and tools needed for a pipe relining method.

1. The Resin Liner

Repair men plug resin liners into the old pipeline of the sewer system in pipe relining. Inserting the resin liner covers the cracks of the damaged pipes. This will serve as repairing the wrecked pipeline. The resin liner becomes part of the main sewer system and is also turned into the immediate pipeline.

Resin liners are usually composed of various materials. This includes vinyl ester, epoxy, polyester, and fiber glass. There are other types but these mentioned are commonly applied in pipe relining.

Lateral lining companies prefer epoxy resin due to many reasons. First of all, epoxy is a sturdy

resin liner that can attach to the pipe lining. It’s a resin liner that can still protect and maintain

the function of the sewer system after decades of use. Another reason why epoxy resins are great is due to the fact it doesn’t contain toxic compounds. Other resin liners produce odors that are both nauseous and dangerous. Some of you might have noticed the contractor using epoxy resin when you got your pipes relined.

2. CCTV Camera Pipes

Probably all new-age pipe repair methods are using cameras for pipe inspections. Repair companies don’t immediately decide to use pipe relining for pipe restoration. They must first check the state of the pipes before coming up with the best solutions. There are situations when pipe relining or other rehabilitation methods aren’t viable. There is further inspection if ever pipe relining is the concluded solution. The CCTV camera is also used to find clogs or obstructions in the sewer system.

3. Clearing Tools

Clogs or other forms of blockage are bad news for a pipe relining procedure. Clearing the pipeline is needed so that the resin liner can be placed without any trouble. Heavy obstructions make it impossible for the bladder to go through the pipe connections. Hydro jets and mechanical augers are tools that can remove blockades found in the sewer line.

4. The Bladder

Resin liners aren’t integrated into the pipes in raw form. It’s placed inside the bladder before being inserted into the pipeline. The bladder is pushed or pulled into the pipes until it has covered the pipe section that needs to be repaired. Once in place, the bladder is inflated so that the resin liner will be pushed onto the lining.

5. Hot Steam or Water

These are more of supplies or additional components for the procedure. Hot steam or water isn’t a major requirement for a pipe relining but it’s essential if you want to speed things up. Curing the resin liner by itself will take too much time. It may take time even more to cure if the resin liner is newly frozen. Pouring hot steam or water will make the curing process a whole lot faster.
